The El Tour de Tucson 111 mile bike race in Tucson, Arizona

This is an annual race & ride around the perimeter of Tucson put on by the Perimeter Bicycling Association of America. There were 111 mile, 81 mile, 66 mile, and 35 mile rides. A total of about 7000 people participated with some 3700 doing the 111 miler.

It snowed a foot in Colorado while I was doing this ride in the high 70s in Tucson. Lucky me! It was a nice ride. My only complaint was that there was no food at the aid stations - only bananas and orange slices. No Gatorade either. I got so sick of bananas and orange slices that I began skipping the aid stations around mile 50. Next year I'll have to carry my own snacks and Gatorade.

Most of these pix were taken with my cell phone.

A Saguaro cactus along the route.

Another cactus along the road that looks like a Triffid (from the 1950s SF movie "Day of the Triffids").
